Peter John McKechnie McTait was the son of James McDaid and Agnes McKechnie He was born on the 24th June 1874 in Glasgow's Central District, Lanark, Scotland. (For more on his parents and ancestors, press HERE.

married at Aston in the last quarter of 1903 Emily Pinfold who from then on, became Emily McTait. (For the families of her grand-parents and parents, press HERE.

At the 1911 Census, Peter McTait and his wife had three children. Two more were to come. He was a "Gas Stove Inspector". He was born on the County of Lanark, Glasgow, Scotland. She was said to have been born in Middleton Cheney Northamptonshire, England. (This Act is found further down.)
The 1939 Census states their dates of birth: 18th May 1873 and 2nd September 1882 respectively. It also mentions that he was a "Viewer of Gas Stove Components". The children had all left home. (This Act is found further down.) From his date of birth one expects him to be 8 years old at the 1881 Census, 18 at the 1891, 28 at the 1901 and finally 38 at the 1911 Census.
Emily McTait née Pinfold was born 2nd September 1882; her death was registered in second quarter of 1969 on Birmingham. (This information is found further down.) The date of her birth
means she was about 8 years old at the 1891 Census, 18 years old at the 1901 Census and 28 years old at the 1911 Census as the Census is taken in the Spring. At that Census, there were six living in a 5 room house. Them, three of their children and a Maurice Pinfield, boarder, 20 years old, born in Middleton Cheney Northamptonshire, like Emily McTait.
Their children were:
- Mabel Elizabeth McTait, whose birth was registered in the 2nd quarter of 1904. (This information is found further down.). She was born October 27th 1904 and baptized on December 11th, 1904, daughter of Peter and Emily McTait, in the Parish of St Clement's, Nechells, in the County of Birmingham. (This Act is found further down.)
She married Albert Edward Wilcox in the second quarter of 1926. (This information is found further down.) He was born on the 29th December 1902. He was a "Carpenter & Joiner" at the 1939 Census. (This Act is found further down.) The fact that the three entries which followed on that Census have been blacked out shows that they were for chidren of theirs whose contribution to the war effort was nil.
- Alice Marjorie McTait, whose birth was registered in the 2nd quarter of 1906. (This information is found further down.) She was born on the 25th of April 1906 according to the 1939 Census. (This information is found further down.)
She married Leonard Shaylor in a double wedding with her sister Betty McTait in the first quarter of 1939. (This information is found further down.)
He was born 23rd September 1913 and died at age 83. His death was registered in June 1997 in the district of Solihull South, West Midlands. (This information is found further down.) At the 1939 Census, he was "motor garage manager". (This information is found further down.)
- Betty Gertrude McTait, whose birth was registered in last quarter of 1909 in Aston. (This information is found further down.) The 1939 Census states she was born on the 26th of September 1909. She married Cyril Day in a double wedding with her sister Marjory McTait in the district of Birmingham in the first quarter of 1939. He was born on the 19th March 1913. according to the 1939 Census. He was a "Estate Agent Rent Manager". (This information is found further down.)
- Frederick Stewert McTait, was born on the 24th May 1911 according to the 1939 Census; his death was registered in last quarter of 1983.(This information is found further down.) He married Louise May Nosworthy in the third quarter of 1938. (This information is found further down.)She was born in 1912 and died 5th August 2008 at age 96. (This information is found further down.) At the 1939 Census, he was living with fourteen people; his wife does not seem to have been there. He was in the hotwater heating business. - Neta Jean McTait, whose birth was registered in the 2nd Quarter of 1913. (This information is found further down.) (She was born on the 17th of April to be precise.)
She married on the district of Birmingham in the last quarter of 1937 Vernon G Walker. (This information is found further down.) At the 1939 Census we find her being born on the 17th April 1913 and him, on the 21st of March 1915. He was a "Civilian Education Officer" with the R A F.
